Scope
Extended Reality, encompassing Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR), stands at the forefront of a transformative revolution that promises to reshape our lives and interactions with the physical world. With a burgeoning market size, XR presents a plethora of applications across various industries. However, the existing tethered nature of XR devices imposes limitations on users' mobility and Quality-of-Experience (QoE). To address this challenge, Wireless XR emerges as a game-changer, leveraging cutting-edge wireless technologies like 5G, 6G, and Wi-Fi to liberate users from cumbersome cables attached to their Head-Mounted Devices. The potential for wireless XR is immense, enabling new horizons for immersive applications and user experiences. For high-quality, ultimate XR, an uncompressed data rate of up to 2.3 Tbps with a latency below 1 ms is essential. Although 5G has made significant strides in enhancing data rates and reducing latency, it falls short of meeting these demanding requirements.
This workshop seeks to explore the state-of-the-art crucial intersection between wireless communication technologies and the rapidly evolving field of XR. This interdisciplinary workshop aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to discuss and delve into the latest advancements, challenges, and future directions in wireless communication technologies tailored specifically for XR. By fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, the workshop intends to chart a course towards creating immersive, interactive, and user-friendly XR environments that transcend the limitations of traditional human-computer interaction.
